An honest path into AI consulting, from people still doing the work
AI consulting is one of the most talked about career moves right now, and most of the advice about it comes from people selling a shortcut. This course is the honest version, written by people still doing the work with real clients.
It is built for high-agency, curious systems thinkers who want to move into AI consulting, including people changing careers without an existing network. It will not hand you a recipe. It will help you decide whether this work fits you, show you the potholes before you hit them, and give you a practical way to build credibility, land first clients, and deliver change that lasts.
What you will learn
The two gates. The traits that predict success in this work, and the honest time and rejection it takes.
What clients actually buy. Why your value is translation and adoption, not just builds, and why most requests turn out to be workflow, systems, access, or data problems.
Your path and your readiness. How to pick an end goal, inventory your strengths and gaps, know the leading AI products better than your buyers, and choose who you serve.
Credibility from zero. An honest online presence, grounded opinions, a one-pager that gets forwarded, and how to handle imposter syndrome.
First clients and discovery. The proof ladder from free to full price, a simple discovery loop, the executive conversation, and when to let a prospect go.
Pricing and scope. Pricing with confidence once you have receipts, selling ROI only where it can be measured, sizing the engagement, and protecting your scope.
Delivery and running the business. Growing AI champions and operators inside a team, working with the AI products a client already has, legal basics just in time, and growing on unit economics.
How it works
Seven modules and 28 lessons, about seven hours in total, taken at your own pace.
Every lesson includes a visual summary, stories from real engagements, and a short exercise or reflection that builds your own plan as you go.
Each module ends with a practice quiz you can retake as often as you like.
A 20 question final assessment closes the course. Pass it with 80 percent or higher (you have three attempts) to complete the course.
Passing the final assessment marks the course as complete in your GC Academy account. This course offers completion recognition only and does not award a certificate or certification.
Career changers, in-house AI champions considering going independent, and experienced professionals who want an honest picture of AI consulting before they make the leap. No technical background is required, though you should already be using AI products regularly and enjoy figuring things out on your own.
